Abstract

The rapid growth of e-commerce technologies has reshaped the business landscape, prompting traditional sellers to consider adopting digital platforms to stay competitive. This study investigates the multifaceted process of e-commerce adoption by traditional sellers, aiming to identify the key factors influencing their decisions. Through a qualitative approach utilizing interviews with traditional sellers in Santiago City, Isabela, findings reveal that reveals that traditional sellers are increasingly recognizing the advantages of e-commerce, such as accessing a broader market, increased customer numbers, and the ability to manage their businesses remotely. However, the transition to e-commerce has challenges, including inadequate knowledge, security concerns, and difficulties in re-marketing and adapting to new selling processes. The coping mechanisms traditional sellers employ highlight their resourcefulness and resilience in navigating the adoption of e-commerce. Re-mastering e-commerce operations, implementing security measures, maintaining positive feedback, and collecting connections emerge as practical strategies to overcome these challenges and succeed in the online marketplace. The findings underscore the importance of intervention programs tailored to the needs of traditional sellers. These programs can empower sellers to embrace e-commerce technologies more effectively by providing targeted education, resources, and support networks. A seminar program focusing on e-commerce adaptation was suggested as a valuable initiative to increase awareness and knowledge among traditional sellers.

Abstract

This qualitative study explores the occupational aspirations and preferred career paths of fourth-year Business Cluster students at Cagayan Valley Computer and Information Technology College (CVCITC) in Santiago City, Isabela, Philippines. Through semi-structured interviews, the study investigates factors influencing aspirations and preferences towards employment under supervisors or entrepreneurial ventures. Findings suggest that while passion, potential salary, and job opportunities are significant considerations, family background, financial constraints, and hands-on learning experiences also play important roles in shaping students' career decisions. Despite expressing long-term entrepreneurial aspirations, most students initially prefer employment post-graduation to gain experience. Supportive work environments with growth opportunities are highly valued. Recommendations for educational institutions include offering workshops to identify strengths and interests, expanding scholarship programs, fostering entrepreneurial culture, implementing mentorship programs, and enhancing accessibility to education. These initiatives aim to empower students in making informed career choices and achieving their goals.
